Brian Simmers Joins National Conversation on Health Care Innovation

Brian Simmers speaking at the Canada Health Innovation Summit in Montreal, participating in a panel on national health care innovation.

Providence Health Care’s Chief Financial Officer and President of PHC Ventures, Brian Simmers, recently took part in the Canada Health Innovation Summit in Montreal—a gathering of health care leaders focused on shaping the future of care delivery across Canada.

Hosted by Bamberg Health, the summit explored critical themes such as digital transformation, system sustainability, AI in diagnostics, and precision medicine. Brian joined the Closing Roundtable, alongside executives from Jewish General Hospital, Healthcare Excellence Canada, and other leading organizations, to discuss how bold ideas can translate into meaningful implementation.

The conversation centered on a pressing question: How do we move from innovation to impact? Panelists reflected on lessons learned, policy implications, and the importance of cross-sector collaboration to sustain momentum and scale change. For Brian, the timing couldn’t have been more relevant: “As we work to strengthen health care delivery across the country, the intersection of digital transformation, clinical excellence, and sustainable system design has never been more important.”

This dialogue aligns closely with the mission of PHC Ventures, Providence’s technology and commercialization platform. By fostering partnerships and accelerating innovation, Ventures helps bring transformative ideas to life—generating benefits that flow back into Providence and the health system.

We’re proud to see Providence and PHC Ventures represented in these national conversations. By engaging with leaders across Canada, we’re helping shape strategies that ensure health care innovation delivers real-world impact for patients and communities.
