Seoul, September 16, 2025 — Hwang Hee, CEO of Kakao Healthcare Corp (KHC), South Korea’s leading digital healthcare platform and a subsidiary of Kakao and Brian Simmers, President of Providence Health Care Ventures (PHCV) and a subsidiary of Providence Health Care announced a strategic collaboration during the 47th Global Privacy Assembly PIPC conference held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yonsang-gu, Seoul. The partnership will leverage KHC’s privacy-enhancing technologies to advance PHCV’s digital platform services, making health care AI development more accessible to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) while maintaining the highest data security standards.
The partnership centres on four key areas:
- Federated learning framework in Kakao’s Healthcare Data Research Suite (HRS) services for model development
- Providence Health Care Ventures’ AI platform for hosting and testing of the built models for real time validation at the Point of Care
- The collaboration will actively expand to onboard SMEs in life sciences with focus on biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries
- Common data model development to support global standardization and ease of interoperability for trusted health data flow
By combining Kakao Healthcare’s platform expertise, such as KHC’s Haycorn, with PHCV’s Integrated Health Informatics Datalab (IHID), the partnership creates new opportunities to optimize global health data flow and for SMEs to access advanced AI capabilities without compromising data security. By combining their strengths, the two companies will collaborate on product development aimed at transforming digital health solutions.

This collaboration supports an “eyes off” data science strategy, using privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) to facilitate distributed model training without sharing sensitive information for sovereign AI development. Together, the organizations will co-develop solutions that enable secure, scalable, and globally relevant applications of health data and AI.
